ABOUT THE FOUNDER

 

Ulrike R. Birnbaum is a German designer specializing in brand and visual identity, with a focus on interior and lighting design (interior/exterior lighting & product design). Her business clients include the Walt Disney Company, the Ritz-Carlton Hotels, Swarovski, Pixar, Allianz SE, as well as the state enterprises of Bavaria and Saxony. Additionally, she has worked on projects with Zandra Rhodes and designed for Mats Hummels, Tamara Ecclestone, and the Oetker family. With her studio based in Munich and satellite offices in Görlitz and New York, she creates lighting solutions for both local and international projects. Beyond creative work and engineering services, Studio Ulrike R. Birnbaum advises businesses and corporations on the impact of lighting on customer experience, public image, and profitability through the optimization and redesign of existing designs. Furthermore, the studio is one of the few independent German design firms without manufacturer affiliation.

 

 

Before founding her own design studio, Ulrike R. Birnbaum worked as Principal Designer and Project Manager for one of the world’s leading creative agencies—Imagination Ltd.—in London (UK) and New York (USA). She also served as Senior Designer for ARUP—the world’s leading engineering firm—as well as for the English National Opera in London (UK).
